More Literay Responses!!!

Literary Response numba 3!!!!

In Fortunes of Indigo Skye a random, very care-free and happy teenage girl receives a very good tip some advice while working as a waitress. This money comes as a big surprise to her and she wants to return it only to find that he is not where she thought that he would be. So...she never backs down and keeps trying to return the money.

With this story line, I cant really relate, although I would love to be able to randomly receiving 2.5 million dollars. Deb Caletti (the author of this book) totally used the creative side of her brain because there has not been really anything like this in history and it does not pertain to her life.

Literarary Responses!!!

Today I am finally going to give the second literary response that goes with the first one!!

In the Fortunes of Indigo Skye there are many places that they go. There are many characters that make up the book but the main characters are Indigo, her boyfriend Trevor, her brother Severin, younger sister Bex adn her mother. These people are the people that appear when just starting the book but when the stroy really gets going her father and Vespa Guy. Each and everyone one of the character's in the book had their own and unique personalities just like in real life. Indigo is a happy go lucky 17 year old girl who is perfectly happy with everything that is going on in her life. Her boyfriend, Trevor is a little bit older and works as a refrigerator delivery boy and is Indigo's opposite. He is edgy but sweet, and allows her to live on the edge and experience things in life that she might never do. Severin and Bex are the typical brother and sister, they are annoying yet sweet. Bex is crazy and a little annoying but Indigo still loves her and Severin is a geek who is in love with the popular girl in school who happens to be the daughter of one of the richest men in their town, so he is a little pre-occupied and not really involved. Indigo's mother is a caring mother who would do anything for her kids even though she works two jobs that don't pay a lot. Her mother and father are divorced so her father lives in Hawaii with her step-mother. He is very sweet and little crazy. He cares so much for his daughter and wishes that he wouldn't have left her. Indigo's house or work; which is a little cafe restaurant called Carreras are where the first part of the story takes place. Both of the venues are located in Seattle, Washington. Hawaii takes place later and that is where Indigo and her father spend a good mount of time. While working at the cafe she gets a customer, known as the "Vespa Guy" because he is mysterious and quiet and every morning he drives up on a Vespa. This mysterious man finally speaks up to Indigo when she offers him some advice he takes it politely and leaves. Well...the next morning there is an envelope waiting for her at work. She won't open it because she is a little paranoid about random envelopes ever since people started slipping diseases that could kill you into them. She finally gets up the guts to open it but she feels as if she is dreaming because she sees that it contains 2.5 million dollars straight from the "Vespa Guy's" bank account. Indigo thinks that it is a very nice gesture but could never take it, so journeys on to Hawaii; seeing how her advice to him was for him to go and to relax in Hawaii. To help her get around her dad stays with her and they get some very special, well needed bonding time.

OH just another Day!

Another Day at OH!!!

Today...we started out the morning with a Whip. This morning's whip was, "What is your favorite commercial?" I said the E-trade commercials with the baby. They are hilarious!

Check it out..it is hilarious:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEXZ2hfD3bU

Following the Whip, it was time for announcements. This week we are getting more time to do FLVS because it is our last week before our 2 week Christmas Break. And what does Christmas mean at OH.....PARTAY...which Hunter and I are in charge of.

FLVS was next and I got started doing Chemistry which is going to be the death of me. I don't understand any of it and am just putting and doing stuff to get through it. I have a strong B which I am holding on for dear life. I have a feeling that I am not going to do well on the semester exam..which is creeping up on me very quickly and I am very scared. I got 4.05 done which I have been trying to get done for weeks and I think that I did okay. Algebra was next on the list and I had to do an oral and study a bit for a module test.

It was 11:15 and that means time for PBL. We talked about working on our Civil War research papers and on finishing up our projects. Our teams plan was to send it to an expert. I chose a great expert who is on the faculty and staff of the University of Virginia.

Here is my project. Check it out! http://www.screencast.com/t/IfmiInFaW

Lunch was next and seeing how I am now on a gluten-free diet I can't just grab a sandwich and I wasn't in the mood to eat the leftovers so I grabbed pop-corn, which I burnt...by the way, so the school smelled amazing. (:

It was a very cold day today but we still managed to play kickball. My team which consisted of Me, Hannah, Mason and Nathan, beat the other team (Kylie, Hunter, Jordin and Ellee).

Music and more FLVS were next on the agenda for today. After about 10 minutes of just sitting there we played TNT by ACDC which I sing. Then we attempted to play Gives You Hell by The All American Rejects.

Upon the return to the school room I did an oral with my math teacher, did an evaluation form for one of my collaboration assignments and worked on studying for that module test that I have to do.

Literary Response

NUMBER 1:

Introduction Response

I chose to read The Fortunes of Indigo Skye by Deb Caletti for my self-selected book. This book is a Young Adult Fiction which is a story that is based on imagination and the author's thoughts that is written and geared towards the younger generations. This story is about an 17 year old girl who has what she thinks is a life that is going pretty well. She has a job that she loves, a boyfriend that she adores and vice versa, a great family and school is going pretty well. One day changes everything when she is given a pretty generous tip of 2.5 million dollars. All of this money may sound great at first but to someone who has never dealt with this type of responsibility before, it could get out of control and many things could change. Mrs. Deb (author) is trying to teach us that, no matter what, you always need to stay true to who you are.

ON LOCATION!

Panera Bread was the location of school today. This was because HMH was having to use our regular facility.

We, meaning (Hannah, Hunter, Kylie and I) came in this morning at 8:30 on the dot, thank to Hunter and her mad driving skillz.

We ordered breakfast and got started to work. I just had a frozen mocha because i am now on a gluten-free diet and apparently bagels aren't gluten-free. Imagine that.

I got an Algebra and a half done, which I would say is improvement, seeing as how I never get that much math done in one day. Math is just not my thing.

It was then time for lunch.

Next up on the agenda is going to see the movie Unstoppable with Chris Pine and Denzel Washington. But I only get to stay for like 15 to 30 minutes because I have dance. I am a little sad because I have been wanting to see this movie for forever with all of my friends, but I LOVE dance, so I can't complain too much.

Then, after dance all of the OH Highschool girls are coming over for spa-night to get ready for our Christmas Party tomorrow night.

Well...talk to ya later...got to go see the movie.
